It would never work - too many private schools in the ACC
The existing rivalries aren't changing:
Florida-Florida State
Georgia-Georgia Tech
South Carolina-Clemson
Kentucky-Louisville
But when you start looking at the remaining members, you just can't come up with sensible matchups. It's easy enough to say that Virginia Tech would make a good pairing with, say, Tennessee or Texas A&M or even Auburn or Alabama. But the ACC has Boston College, Syracuse, Wake Forest and Duke, and they can't all play Vanderbilt. No one would care about Boston College-Arkansas or Syracuse-Missouri, and at some point that's the sort of matchup you'd be forced to have.
It just makes way more sense for schools like Arkansas and Missouri to play non-conference games against Big 12 schools, or even some of the more prominent American and C-USA schools, as opposed to playing Syracuse or Pitt or Boston College. [Post edited by Tailgate Guru at 10/03/2017 09:20AM]
